Spectators

One hundred and twenty cars will start the Stobart Rail Pendragon Stages on Sunday 30th August. They are only allowed to take their places in the event if they have passed Noise and Scrutineering. These checks ensure the cars don't exceed the noise which all other road cars have to adhere to.

Scrutineering is mainly to make sure the safety features fitted to the cars work. This includes the turbo restrictors being the correct size, rollcages being properly fixed, helmets not being damaged and fire extinguishers being installed and able to be armed, just in case.

This year we have arranged the Scrutinnering to coincide with the Pendragon Festival so you can watch a steady stream of cars in the Marque next to Penrith Leisure Centre from 13.00 until 18.00 on Saturday the 29th August.

The rally is a round of some of the best Championships in the country which includes two Scottish and three regional Championships, this attracts the best/fastest/most consistent crews to the Stobart Rail Pendragon Stages.

After the crews have passed Noise and Scrutineering they will have to have their licenses and insurance checked and they will be issued with their rally packs. The descriptive route notes 95% of the crews will be using will have been ordered weeks in advance and so they will have been read and re-read although no checking of them is allowed on this event, the first time they use them will be on Sunday as the start marshal counts them down.

Lowther Wildlife Park is the first time spectators will see the competitors. They make two visits to the Park and will have two runs clockwise and when they return two runs anti-clockwise.

The fastest time over the 1.2 mile stage will be around the 1 minute 18 second mark, stand back! All the cars will be going over the ramp in Penrith town centre twice, once at approx 12.00 and finally the winner will be announced on the ramp at approx 4.30pm. Seconds is usually the winning margin after competing over 80 miles on the event.
